OpenAI has just confirmed that it's rolling out ChatGPT Work capabilities directly into regular Chat, while also combining usage allowances across ChatGPT and Codex. In an email seen by BleepingComputer, OpenAI noted that it will test a combined experience for Chat and Work tabs in the coming weeks, initially with a small group of users. If you're selected for the test, you'll be able to move from ordinary conversations to more complex tasks without switching modes. "This will enable you to move from exploring an idea to having ChatGPT carry it through, all in one place," OpenAI explained. "You can bring in your files and plugins and ask ChatGPT to build a website, create a presentation, or do things for you on the web, while reviewing and guiding its work." The combined experience will initially be tested with a small group of users before OpenAI expands it to more people.

A critical flaw in Canonical's LXD and MicroCloud let an attacker log in as a trusted client without holding that client's private key. To do it, the attacker had to reach their HTTPS API over the network and have the trusted client's public certificate. Once in, the attacker would act as that client, with access to the cluster and its virtual machines. If the impersonated account is

Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of what has been described as a "highly sophisticated infection chain" targeting government organizations in Asia. The activity, detailed by Kaspersky this week, targeted a custom Windows 10 build used exclusively by government entities in Asia and involves the deployment of a previously undocumented .NET assembly-loading framework codenamed
U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) adds Ivanti Connect Secure flaws to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added the following Ivanti Connect Secure vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog: CVE-2026-111357 (CVSS score of 8.8) – A missing authentication check for a critical function that could allow an authenticated local attacker to gain higher privileges. CVE-2026-118527 (CVSS score of 4.3) – A predictable identifier vulnerability that could allow an authenticated remote attacker to upload files containing malicious content to a known location on the system. The vulnerabilities are part of an exploit chain that cybersecurity firm Volexity first documented in mid-October. “Volexity has identified active in-the-wild exploitation of a vulnerability chain allowing unauthenticated remote code execution in Ivanti Connect Secure VPN devices. Ivanti has published an advisory providing upgrade instructions to customers.” states Volexity. “Systems exhibiting signs of compromise, such as attempts to move laterally originating from the ICS VPN device, should be forensically investigated to ensure no breach has occurred.“ The attacks combined these vulnerabilities with an authentication bypass vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-104935 (CVSS score of 8.6). In early October 2026, Volexity discovered that a threat actor tracked as UTA0576 was exploiting a zero-day vulnerability chain to compromise fully patched Ivanti Connect Secure VPN appliances. The attack combined authentication bypass, remote code execution, and privilege escalation flaws, allowing attackers to gain root access without logging in. The authentication bypass and RCE flaws are tracked as CVE-2026-104935. After gaining access, the attackers targeted Active Directory credentials and sensitive information, including LAPS passwords and BitLocker recovery keys. Volexity worked with Ivanti as soon as it suspected the vulnerabilities were being exploited. CISA added CVE-2026-104935 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog on October 13, 2026. Ivanti released security updates to address both CVE-2026-111357 and CVE-2026-118527: Version 25.1.1.2 and earlier: upgrade to 25.1.1.3. Version 22.8R2.5 and earlier: upgrade to 22.8R2.6. Ivanti said it disclosed CVE-2026-104935 first because a fix was already available and ready for testing. When researchers discovered the additional privilege escalation flaws, the company decided not to delay the release of the first patch, which addressed the main attack method. Ivanti also worked with Volexity to share information about the attackers’ techniques, including how they chained the vulnerabilities. Ivanti had already fixed part of the issue in its July 25.1.3.0 release and was preparing updates for other supported versions. Patches are now available for all the vulnerabilities used in the attacks. “At the time of discovery of exploitation, Ivanti had a fix developed for CVE-2026-104935 which was already in QA for supported versions, and we made the decision to not delay getting a fix to customers that resolved the primary exploitation path when the LPE was discovered. Because of this, our focus was initially centered on the disclosure of CVE-2026-104935 and providing protection for our customers as quickly as possible.” states Ivanti. “Additionally, Ivanti collaborated with Volexity on their blog post which provided information to arm defenders on known threat actor behavior, including chaining the local privilege escalation vulnerability. These additional CVE disclosures have now been added to this Security Advisory and a fix is available now.” According to Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 22-01: Reducing the Significant Risk of Known Exploited Vulnerabilities, FCEB agencies have to address the identified vulnerabilities by the due date to protect their networks against attacks exploiting the flaws in the catalog. Experts also recommend that private organizations review the Catalog and address the vulnerabilities in their infrastructure. CISA orders federal agencies to fix CVE-2026-111357 by November 2, 2026, and CVE-2026-118527 by November 13, 2026. Cloud application hosting platform Northflank is warning customers to rotate all credentials and secrets stored on its platform after a security breach led to unauthorized use of customers' AI API keys. Northflank is a cloud platform that allows developers to deploy and manage applications, containers, databases, and AI applications without managing the underlying infrastructure. The company disclosed a security incident on October 30, warning customers to immediately rotate their environment variables and API keys after receiving a threat alert from cloud security company Wiz. Soon after, Northflank told all customers to assume their environment variables had been decrypted and that the secrets stored within them were stolen. "Assume all environment variables have been decrypted. Disable/rotate all keys," Northflank warned in an October 30 update.
Reddit announced in a post by co-founder Steve Huffman that the site will gradually become a "logged-in service," offering limited access to visitors without accounts. For the past 20 years, the discussion platform has let users browse almost all its content without logging in, but according to Huffman, Reddit has now grown to a size where this is no longer sustainable. The two main points for this upcoming change are the need to offer users more personalization and to address the increasing problem of content scrapers. To tackle this, a new pilot test will begin in selected markets outside the United States in the coming months, requiring users to log in to access the site's full content. However, what content will be restricted, what countries will be impacted first, and rollout timelines have not been determined at this time.
Finding a real security flaw and getting paid for it is an appealing goal when you are learning cyber security. Bug bounties give you a chance to test your skills on real software and help its developers make it safer. Headlines about programs closing or pausing under a flood of AI reports can make that route feel less certain. Earlier this year, curl, the widely used data transfer tool and library, ended its paid bounty program after similar problems. As a beginner, these decisions raise a practical question about where to put your effort. A useful starting point is understanding what went wrong, then building the skills to produce findings that someone else can verify. A bug bounty program rewards eligible security findings under a defined set of rules. Developers must still review each submission, reproduce the issue and assess its impact.
