TP-Link Sued by Four More U.S. States Over Router Security and China Ties

Four more U.S. states sued router maker TP-Link Systems on October 6, bringing the total to five, with  Texas filing a suit in February. Florida, Iowa, Montana and Nebraska allege the California company misled buyers about how secure its routers are and how separate it is from China. SonicWall Patches CVSS 10.0 Pre-Authentication SSRF Flaw in SMA1000 Appliances

SonicWall has released hotfixes for four flaws in its SMA1000 appliances, the gateways that give remote workers access to a company's network and applications. The most serious could allow an attacker without a login to send requests through the appliance and reach internal functions. SonicWall rates it 10.0 on the CVSS scale and says it has no evidence that any of the four flaws is being

Unpatched Critical LMCache Flaw Lets Unauthenticated Attackers Run Code Remotely

A critical vulnerability in LMCache, open-source software that speeds up large language model (LLM) servers such as vLLM, lets an attacker run code on the cache server without logging in, and no fixed version is available. The flaw is in LMCache's multiprocess mode, where the cache runs as a standalone server that LLM workers reach over the ZeroMQ messaging library. A single network

Google halts open-source bug bounty program amid AI spam surge

Google has now suspended submissions to its Open Source Software Vulnerability Rewards Program (OSS VRP) after being flooded by AI-generated reports. The company's OSS VRP incentivizes security researchers to responsibly disclose security flaws across open-source projects maintained by Google, including Golang, Angular, Bazel, Protocol Buffers, Fuchsia, and critical third-party dependencies, as well as repository settings like GitHub actions, application configurations, and access control rules. Google launched the OSS VRP in August 2022 with rewards ranging from $100 to $31,337, and noted that the program would focus on security flaws with the most significant impact on the software supply chain. "We are temporarily no longer accepting OSS VRP product vulnerability submissions. This does not impact OSS VRP supply chain reports, or any outstanding reports," the company said. "Why is this happening? This pause is due to a significant rise in automated submissions, the vast majority of which are not valid."

U.S. CISA adds Fortinet FortiMail flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog

U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) adds Fortinet FortiMail flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added a Fortinet FortiMail flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-104286 (CVSS score of 9.8), to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. The flaw is a path traversal vulnerability that can be triggered through specially crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit the issue to bypass restrictions on file paths and write arbitrary files to the underlying system. The vulnerability also involves improper handling of NULL characters, which can help the attacker bypass security checks. The flaw is reportedly being exploited in the wild, so affected customers are urged to apply the recommended workaround. “An Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory (‘Path Traversal’) [CWE-22] and Improper Neutralization of NULL Byte or NULL Character [CWE-158] vulnerability may allow an unauthenticated attacker to write arbitrary files on the underlying system via crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests.” reads the advisory. “This has been reported to be exploited in the wild” The company did not disclose how many customers were affected, when the attacks started, who was behind them, or technical details of the attacks. Below are the affected versions and the released updates: VersionAffectedSolutionFortiMail 8.08.0.0 through 8.0.1Upgrade to upcoming 8.0.2 or aboveFortiMail 7.67.6.0 through 7.6.6Upgrade to upcoming 7.6.7 or aboveFortiMail 7.47.4.0 through 7.4.8Upgrade to upcoming 7.4.9 or aboveFortiMail 7.27.2.0 through 7.2.9Upgrade to branch 7.4 or above As a temporary workaround, customers should disable the IBE (Identity-Based Encryption) feature using the recommended CLI command. Alternatively, access to the FortiMail management interface should be blocked from the internet or limited to trusted private networks. According to Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 22-01: Reducing the Significant Risk of Known Exploited Vulnerabilities, FCEB agencies have to address the identified vulnerabilities by the due date to protect their networks against attacks exploiting the flaws in the catalog. Experts also recommend that private organizations review the Catalog and address the vulnerabilities in their infrastructure. CISA orders federal agencies to fix the flaw by October 3rd, 2026. Hackers stole Pentagon personnel records of over 3 million people

The Pentagon's Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) is notifying millions of military service members that hackers stole their data after breaching the Pentagon's human resources management system in October 2025. In data breach notification letters shared online by affected individuals, the DMDC told affected military personnel that "a small number of unauthorized users" had access to their sensitive data, including personally identifiable information (PII), between October 2025 and July 2026 after exploiting a vulnerability in its file-sharing systems. The stolen data varies by person and includes Social Security numbers (SSNs), names, dates of birth, contact information, sex, race, and military personnel information. Pentagon officials told Federal News Network that the data breach affects more than 3 million people, including nearly 2.8 million living individuals and 294,000 "deceased individuals."
